World time zones
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the world’s reference time. Local times are written as “UTC + offset”.
| Offset | Cities |
|---|---|
| UTC+7 | Bangkok, Hanoi, Jakarta |
| UTC+8 | Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Manila |
| UTC+9 | Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul |
| UTC+10 | Sydney, Brisbane |
Does my phone change time zone when I travel?
Yes. Smartphones set the time zone automatically: once on a local mobile network they switch to local time, and the camera records photos in that time zone.
